Code of Ethics
Based on the statistics obtained from professional insurance companies, at least 3,500 physicians in FRANCE perform Aesthetic Surgery procedures.
However, only 448 surgeons (in the year 2004) were qualified by the Conseil National de l'Ordre des Médecins (French national medical association)!
Before making an appointment or scheduling a procedure, we encourage you to check your practitioner’s qualification on the website of the French medical association Ordre des Médecins.
Professional Ethics
"The Surgery of Happiness?"
Beauty is no guarantee of happiness!
Although not indispensable to general health, Aesthetic Surgery can make a significant contribution to quality of life by improving the physical appearance of a normal individual and her or his self-image.
Aesthetic surgery is not a panacea: it can improve the way you look but it can’t change who you are.
Legal aspects
The code of good practice authorizes medical doctors to perform all medical and surgical acts within the limits of their skills. (Article 70 of the French Code of Medical Ethics).
This provision has a purpose: to enable any physician to perform a procedure under exceptional circumstances, especially in case of emergency.
Concerning Aesthetic Surgery, the law is increasingly more vigilant and considers reparative (tumour, trauma, malformation) and aesthetic surgical procedures as separate.
Reconstructive plastic and aesthetic surgery must be performed by those who are specially qualified to exercise it.
